Google Colab to Jupyter notebook, wget

Post by amusensei »

hello I need help with using the wget command in jupyter notebook. While, I could use google colab, for no particular reason, i want to follow this course locally in jupyter notebook. I have found that pretty much all things can be entered in the exact same format and syntax and produce the same output, except wget. So far I have done the following steps:

1.) entered and ran "pip install wget" in the command prompt
2.) entered and ran "import wget" in jupyter notebook
3.) tried entering and ran "!wget url" in jupyter notebook
4.) tried entering and ran "wget url" in jupyter notebook
5.) tried entering and ran "wget.download('url')" in jupyter notebook
5.) tried entering and ran "!wget.download('url')" in jupyter notebook

I've tried these steps for a variety of different image urls from google images and i always get either one or multiple errors. Please help, thank you.

Hello,

"wget" is a Linux utility. You will not be able to use it if you are not using a Linux [ or Linux like ] Operating System [ or have not installed it on your Linux or Linux like Operating System ]

Hope that helps.
